When I set up this site I didn’t plan to write on curiosities that don’t have a direct effect on productivity, but investing is a little hobby of mine so I though I would post this little tidbit for the silver bugs out there.

Since the market price of silver bullion started exploding last year there has been growing media attention focused on the so called “devil’s metal”. I thought it would be fun to check the correlation between the readership of a pure metals blog and the silver price.

Below is a chart Alexa data which estimates website visits which I took a chart of tfmetals, a recently launched blog with exploding populatrity. The source data can be seen here.

Now have a look at the silver price over the same period:

More than a passing resemblance. Can the silver price be gauged from public interest on forums and tools as crude as Alexa? I’ll be interested to watch that in the future.
